Xiaomi’s Mi Band line-up is very popular among all the users be it is domestically or internationally. Recently in the month of June, Xiaomi launched its new fitness tracker, Mi Band 4 – an upgrade to last year’s Mi Band 3. Mi Band 4 introduced colored display in the Mi Band line-up. It is available in two variants, one with NFC and the other without NFC. The NFC variant of Mi Band 4 is exclusive for China only. The Global variant of Mi Band 4 does not have NFC support.
This may be a huge let down for global users, but some recent reports indicate that Xiaomi is planning to bring the benefits of NFC to its global users, in the form of Mi Band 5. The reports further suggest that new band will have NFC support in all the variants. That means with Mi Band 5, global users will also be able to enjoy the benefits of NFC.
Mi band 4 with NFC can be used for wireless payments, it could be used as a bus or metro card alternative or it can be used as an identity card at offices. Apart from this, there are numerous applications of NFC with the Mi Band 4.
The CEO of Huami, Wang Huang has already confirmed that Huami is working with Xiaomi on Xiaomi’s next year’s fitness tracker. So, it is developed in collaboration with Huami.
There may be some changes in the design of Mi Band 5 which will make it more durable than its predecessors. It is expected that the Band 5 will have a rugged design.
