Build and Design:

Acer Predator Helios 300 is not the flimsy kind. It weighs 2.3 kilograms and doesn’t shy away from the fact that it is a beefy one. I found it to be slightly thicker because of the extra weight and wouldn’t deem it portable unless you play games on the fly. The lid and the keyboard area are all aluminum while the deck and the bottom are plastic. I like the whole predator appearance with a corner cut display and edgy fan vents located at the backside of the laptop.

Processor and Performance:

The Acer Predator Helios 300 delivers well. I didn’t expect anything less from the best gaming laptops under 1 lakh. The combination of the six-core GPU and the latest generation NVIDIA RTX 3060 is capable of running most AAA titles at ultra with a few exceptions such as Cyberpunk 2077. Including a 16 GB DDR4 RAM module was a wise decision by the brand as a few titles like RDR2 struggle without ample RAM. I have no problems with the storage capacity or the type as it used both, SSD and HDD that amount to 1.25 TB of space.

Display:

The display isn’t a massive letdown. It is a high refresh rate display that can go up to 144 Hz and offers a response time of 3 milliseconds. That assumption is a little far-fetched in my opinion but you can get decent performance in Valorant and CS: GO. As for the bezels, they are slim but not the kind you would expect from an ultrabook. This one is a fifteen-inch panel with an FHD resolution and peak brightness of 280 nits that is admissible as gamers never play in bright light.

Battery:

Acer Predator Helios 300 chugs battery like crazy. Despite the undervolted CPU, I got almost 3-4 hours on a single charge. The power brick is also huge but flattened out and I don’t grasp the reason behind that. I would have appreciated it if they had put the charging port at the back rather than between the vents and the ports.

Verdict:

Undoubtedly, it the best gaming laptops under 1 lakh. You can throw any game at it and it would run at high-ultra settings with ease. The connectivity options are good and the thermal management is exceptional. One problem is the blaring fan noise when you kick it into the turbo mode. Build and Design:

MSI GL65 Leopard is a sturdy gaming beast with a keen focus on the ergonomics part. The top lid is metal while the bottom panel is plastic. I observed a lot of flex on the keyboard area which is a little troublesome if you bash the keys too hard. The vents are positioned exactly like the Acer Predator Helios 300 but lack any port on the backside. Its keyboard region is a little suppressed but features a full-fledged keyboard layout and is bad considering the requirement from best gaming laptops under 1 lakh.

Processor and Performance:

MSI GL65 Leopard has a tenth generation i7 processor which is capable of running every program and application that you test it with. I found the 16 GB RAM module to be of higher frequency than what’s mentioned on their website and it is a big improvement for no added cost. The NVIDIA RTX 2060 handles the graphics department and is a big improvement over the yesteryear GTX cards that offer poor overall performance. Bezel-wise, I love the MSI GL65 Leopard more than the Acer Predator Helios 300. The three bezels almost appear similar and narrow, which is how I visualize a gaming laptop. You get an IPS panel with FHD resolution so no complaints there. It is a high refresh rate display, therefore expect smoother gameplay than the usual 60 Hz. 144 Hz is suitable for competitive gaming and the laptop possesses a powerful GPU to amplify the visual fidelity. I wanted the color gamut to be more diverse but it is too high of an expectation if you are searching for the best gaming laptop under 1 lakh.

Battery:

The battery life is horrible and you can get only 2-2.5 hours on a single charge. It is because of the hardware configuration that puts the strain on the battery. I would advise you to play while being plugged into the charger.

Verdict:

MSI GL65 Leopard has great thermal management, great port layout, and wireless connectivity but misses out on the battery life by quite a bit. You will love the customizable keyboard by Steelseries while playing on it. Nevertheless, it can run most games at baffling framerates and is a good option if you are searching for the best gaming laptops under 1 lakh.
