Here is some good news for the fox out there, Netflix will be releasing some of its popular and informative documentaries alongside feature films on their YouTube for free. This step would be good for the users who do not have access to Netflix. The content includes the Explained series, which is my favorite as it gives scientific explanations for various interesting events or human Psychology.
Netflix US YouTube Channel stated “For many years, Netflix has allowed teachers to screen documentaries in their classrooms. However, this isn’t possible with schools closed,”. ” So at their request, we have made a selection of our documentary features and series available”.
The strategy has been taken by Netflix after the request made by the teacher to screen the educational movies and documentaries. The might help the company to improve its customer reach. Though Netflix have always provided paid content, this will be the first time that the company will be giving free content to its users.
Free content will be viewed by a large number of audience as the Covid-19 outbreak have made all the institutions to remain closed due to which students are forced to take online classes and stay at home. This might prove to be a positive step for Netflix as its content might be liked by students and some of them might also take paid subscription.
Netflix is facing a cut throat competition from online streaming players which included Amazon Prime, Disney+, Apple TV+ and many more. These competitors have already captured a large sector of audience through its exciting content. Some other content which will be provided free on the YouTube platform of Netflix include Our Planet.
